Process of Copyright is divided into Following steps:

  • Allotment of the Copyright Filing Diary Number
  • Examination by the copyright office
  • Clarification of a Discrepancy (If any discrepancy is found)
  • Registration of Copyright

Artistic

  • Two Soft copies of work
  • Demand Draft
  • NOC (No Objection Certificate) from author / Applicant.
  • NOC from publisher (if work published and publisher is different from applicant)
  • Search Certificate issued by Registrar of Trademarks
  • NOC from person whose photograph appears on the work

Cinematograph Film

  • Two Soft copies of work
  • Demand Draft
  • NOC from Various Copyright Holders / Agreement Copy
  • NOC from publisher (if work published and publisher is different from applicant)

Music

  • Two Soft copies of work
  • Demand Draft
  • NOC from Publisher (if work published and publisher is different from applicant)
  • NOC from Author (if applicant is other than author)

Literary/Dramatic

  • Two Soft copies of work
  • Demand Draft
  • NOC from Publisher (if work published and publisher is different from applicant)
  • NOC from Author (if applicant is other than author)

Sound Recording

  • Two Soft copies of work
  • Demand Draft
  • NOC from Various Copyright Holders / Agreement Copy
  • NOC from publisher (if work published and publisher is different from applicant)

Software

  • Two Soft copies of work
  • Source code and object code of work for verification
  • Demand Draft
  • NOC from Publisher (if work published and publisher is different from applicant)
  • NOC from Author (if applicant is other than author)

Standard Costing

  • Literary* / Dramatic / Musical / Artistic work : Rs 7,000 per work per application
  • Cinematograph Film : Rs. 15,000 per work per application
  • Sound Recording : Rs. 10,000 per work per application
  • Cost is inclusion of official fees and attorney fees
  • GST @ 18% will be applicable additionally on payment in Indian Rupees

Standard Timeline

  • 6 months approx., if there no objection or opposition raised.

Validity

The general rule is that copyright lasts for 60 years. This period is counted as-

From the date of publication

Renewal
