Introduction -
The steel industry in India is one of the most critical industries in the country. The industry produces a wide range of steel products, including both finished and semi-finished. The steel industry is essential to the country's economy and employs many people.
India's steel sector is one of the most critical industries in the country. The Ministry of Steel is responsible for developing and regulating the steel industry in India. A No Objection Certificate (NOC) from BIS certificate for import or export steel products. The NOC is required for customs clearance and is valid for one year.
A No Objection Certificate (NOC) is like a hall pass for steel goods with different specifications. If the steel grade/product properties don't match up with what's on the mandatory BIS certificate for import Steel and Steel Products, the Ministry of Steel can permit the consignment to come into India.
Regarding customs clearance rules, Product codes can be a real pain, especially when they don't tell you whether or not you need to get a BIS registration. Customs officials can also be confusing, often mistaking similar products for those requiring certification. This can lead to delays in shipments and some hefty penalties.
If you want to avoid delays and penalties, you'll need to get a "No Objection Certificate" (NOC) from BIS. This certificate states that the steel product is not covered under mandatory BIS Certification. To get one of these, simply reach out to BIS and provide them with the necessary information.

Steel Is a Very Large Scale Product That is Being Imported to India. the Chemical Composition of Every still is different as per required by the customer. India is a very large-scale importer of Steel, The chances of product dumping is very common. This is the reason; some steel products (approx 145) are already under the mandatory BIS certification by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). As per BIS norms, products that are under BIS certification can not be imported without ISI mark.
The MOS (Ministry of Steel) is the apex body for formulating steel policies in India. It is responsible for the overall development of the steel industry in the country.
There are two types of requests that can be made to the MOS for clarification or exemption -

To request clarification or exemption, the individual or organization has to submit a written request to the MOS. The request should include the reason for seeking clarification or exemption. The MOS will review the submission and decide on the same.
The steel products whose specifications are identical with any Mandatory Indian Standard of Steel but not exactly match with this Standard. In this case the importer required clarification/exemption from the Ministry of Steel on each consignment coming to India, which is called NOC.

We provide NOC within 20 days after submission of NOC application on Ministry of Steel portal:
If you import the steel products which are identical but its properties are different from any Indian Standard which is under Mandatory BIS certifications then you would be unable to export your goods to India. NOC is required for this.
